Nydia Conrad, Psy. D.
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Conrad completed her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from The State University of New York at Oswego, her Doctoral degree at The Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa, FL., and her clinical internship with the Florida Department of Corrections. At the Department of Corrections, Dr. Conrad conducted individual and group therapy with clients representing a variety of clinical issues such as: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, self injury, impulse control disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and adjustment disorders.
Dr. Conrad has worked with children and adults with interpersonal problems, social skills development, coping skills, stress management, parenting, family therapy, domestic violence, and bereavement. She has extensive experience in the psychological and cognitive testing of child, adult, and forensic populations. Dr. Conrad is interested in the application of psychological principles in courtroom settings and has conducted research on trial preparation with specific emphasis on the effect of defendant characteristics on juror perceptions and leniency. She has also published an editorial in the Bradenton Herald on the causes and effects of martial infidelity.
Currently, Dr. Conrad enjoys working with children, adolescent, and adult patients. She utilizes Client Centered Play Therapy in her work with children and uses an Integrated Interpersonal Process approach in her work with adolescents and adults. Dr. Conrad is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish fluently. Presently she is working as a postdoctoral resident towards Florida licensure.
