 Karen Kruger, Ph.D.
Psychology Resident
After completing a Masters Degree in psychology at Tennessee State University in 1999, Dr. Kruger completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at Tennessee State University in 2005. Dr. Kruger’s training includes an internship at Vanderbilt University’s Psychiatric Medical Center, and Vanderbilt’s Psychological Counseling Center. She completed her residency rotations as staff psychotherapist at Meharry Medical College’s Psychological Counseling Center and at the Meharry Family Practice Medical Clinic. In addition, Dr. Kruger’s experience includes working at. Centerstone Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic as well as the Elam Center for inpatient and outpatient substance abuse clinical services at Meharry Medical College Department of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Kruger also has worked in the Tennessee Department of Corrections as a psychotherapist and as a facilitator in developing programs for the Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility.
Dr. Kruger has traveled extensively to Nepal, India and Peru with other health care practitioners in order to help facilitate the development of health care and economic aid. Dr. Kruger has great interest in health and wellness having helped to develop the marketing proposal for the EAP adopted by the state of Tennessee in 1998. Dr. Kruger has also taught developmental psychology at Tennessee State University.
Prior to coming to Naples to join The Counseling Associates as a psychology resident towards Florida licensure, Dr. Kruger was in private practice in Nashville, Tennessee for three years. Currently, Dr. Kruger enjoys working with a wide spectrum of clients and issues with emphasis on individuals, couples/family, and groups. Dr. Kruger also has interest in working with clients on issues of meaning, and spirituality.
