Chelsea Birmingham, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Naples, Bonita & Ft Myers offices

 

Chelsea Birmingham, LMHC received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and her Masters degree in Applied Psychology from   Sacred Heart University.  Her experience includes in-home intensive outpatient services, involving children, adolescents, and families, helping to reduce anxiety, depression, truancy, substance abuse, problem sexual behavior, and other behavioral struggles in youths. The focus on in-home services was to improve the relationship between families to build successful support systems and improve emotional stability and wellbeing. Her work with children and adolescents also includes as internship at the Yale Child Study Center.

Ms. Birmingham's work with adults, both individually and with couples relationship issues, includes outpatient counseling for anxiety, depression and substance abuse. Her work with group interventions has included: mindfulness, life skills, biology of addiction, anger management, cognitive behavioral therapy, healthy communication, stages of change, art therapy, narrative therapy, psychoeducational groups, self-esteem, relationship building, and self-awareness.

Ms. Birmingham utilizes strength-based interventions as well as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to improve an understanding of the self and personal needs that often times are unknown upon entering services. Her areas of special interest are improving interpersonal familial relationships, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and healthy emotional expression. Ms. Birmingham promotes increased self-awareness through identifying and challenging negative thoughts and perceptions to increase self-esteem and acceptance. Ms. Birmingham takes an empathic approach and individualizes each intervention to best meet client needs and promote client care.
